Yes that what I was thinking too - if they had jammed the arm to be stuck in one position, it would cause increased wear as the groove spiral shifted the radius. I wouldn't mind betting that the stylus wear is what we are hearing!

As I was saying there are a lot of unanswered questions that affect the validity of the test relative to how we would play our records. I dug a bit further in the channel and they were talking about "their revolutionary 3D printed records" - so this company is related to the HD vinyl that was being touted a few years ago.
My recollection is that HD vinyl had issues with surface noise and given that they are talking about dub plates now, I suspect the 3D printed thing may never happen.
