two. The inductance and internal impedance are a little different.
The real sleeper, if you have a decent MC preamp setup, is the fairly rare XLZ-7500 low-output MM. It's superb sounding with good amplification, right up there with good LOMC carts as regards inner detail and lack of grain. I'm using one with a NOS D4000II stylus assembly. The Stanton equivalent was the 981LZS.
