I don't know that much about electronics, but I've never seen reference to cleaning PCBs to remove old conformal coatings. Can this really be an issue, or was it just a security step as long as everything was exposed? If that is advised it seems it should be done to all older electronics -- 30+ years?

Rich, beautiful unit and a great find in such cosmetic condition. Now after JP's work it should be as new or better. Keep us posted with the new plinth and dual arms once completed.
