Mk2 and yes, the thick rubber mat. I have overhauled my decks and recalibrated the motor control speed and torque; I have seen the effect on the rotation speed stability when changing the mass before and after adjustment so you can certainly compensate for it. The control system related comments would still apply to the new model I am sure - it is done via a self-check routine which you can execute yourself so would be simple to do with the extra mass in place. I didn't see any improvements in the noise floor measurements with silent groove test tracks and since the new decks are even better, I would be surprised if you got any benefit from one. The clamps will do little to flatten dished 180g vinyl. However, by all means experiment with the clamp of your choice, but I wouldn't try an increase the mass too far as this will increase the bearing wear.
