If you are getting acoustic feedback when you play records, and have a digital player of some kind and a good DAC (plus an ADC for the recording process), consider making digital recordings of your records, especially the ones you play often. You can make the recording with the amplifier / speakers out of the loop and avoid feedback.
When I play back the recordings of LP's I made with my Tascam handheld recorder (via line in from a preamp tape output) I would say they are 95% as good as playing the LP.
