The shape of the stylus has no effect on a cartridge's susceptibility to VTA, which is the angle between a line through the stylus and cantilever pivot to the record's surface. Only SRA has to do with stylus shape and a conical stylus has no SRA. However, all cartridges have VTA and the DL-103R is designed to the old 15-degree standard whereas most modern cartridge are designed to the new 23-degree standard.
