a DL-103R and several DL-103D cartridges and I guarantee you the DL-103 will never last 2000 hours. Whoever told you that knows nothing about the DL-103. I doubt Denon would ever say something that foolish.

If you try that cartridge on the HiFiNews test LP torture track it will likely fall apart below +14db and that is not good.

If you look at that stylus under a microscope it will have significant wear spots on both sides of the stylus and that causes distortion. Try listening to LPs that demand more from that cartridge.

On very low velocity LPs it will probably hold together but if you have anything that requires more tracking abilities, that cartridge could not handle it.

I would never use that cartridge on my LPs. Maybe you are lucky but you are asking too much from a conical stylus that is over 1000 hours old.
