Good Afternoon,, fstein:

A couple(-few(?)) years ago, when Lencos were becoming more well known, I ordered a Zebrano (vennered) version from Moldova and had to pay extra for this option from the standard bare unfinished one. (Note: At the time, there weren't as many plinth builders.) What was sent to me was the bare one! Being that I'm located in Canda, it was too much of a hassle/expense to ship it back for the correct one. Another thing - it was advertised as being for the L75/L78. Again what I recieved was the standard L75 one. I ended up having to route, using a dremel and then some saning, two-three areas where the L78 parts were not fitting. One being the tonearm pillar area, the seond being the lift mechanism area, and the third on the island where part of the auto-returm (?) mechanism was. It was a bit of a hassle. At the time, it being unfinished and I did not have the know-how/skills to veneer the bare plinth and didn't really want to just oil/varnish/paint it (as I preferred the real wood look), I searched for a woodwork shop that was willing to make and addiotnal plywood section to accomodate a second tonearm and then a construct a partial dovetailed hardwood outer frame that would encase the entirety. This outer frame was glued/screwed to the bare pinth with it's plywood additon (for the second arm). This addition cost $550 CDN. The finished product came out quite nice. There's a picture of it from above on Lenco Heaven.) I think the Moldova seller improved their products eventually to encompass more options but I would not buy from them again. Hope this helps in your decision making.

Sincerely,
Kingsley.
