I have had a at least a dozen cartridges retipped. Both by Andy at Needle Clinic and Peter at Soundsmith. They gave new life to the cartridges and the cost was well worth it. I have never been disappointed.
I have an Ortofon Cadenza Black that will need retipping this year, since a new one would be about $2800 and a retip at $450, it's a no brainer.
