Using multiple belts doesn't eliminate that but the stretching and slippage does not happen at the same time on multiple belts. The overall effect is better speed control.

The effect is sort of like the difference you hear between a direct drive table and a belt drive. I noticed it immediately when I switched but I supposed it depends on program content. The attack and decay of notes seem to be better defined with the multiple belts.

The down thing about using multiple belts is the transmission of motor noise and that was brought up on another forum when I posted about the upgrade. To address the issue I recorded blank noise on a LP at 24/192 with 1, 2 and 3 belts driving the platter.

To make a long story short the results showed a very slight, less than 0.2db, increase in noise (between 1 and 3 belts) and that could be attributed to a variety of things. The blanks track recorded was approximately 10 seconds of noise in the deadwax of a MoFi UHQR. It was chosen for its extreme low noise content.

The morale of the story is that there is a very slight increase in motor noise transmitted by the extra belts but the advantage could be considered worth the trade off in noise. Of course all of that depends on your priorities.
