The Thorens is a great table, but there's always room for more than one lol.
Now that the Merrill is on hold, have you considered another vintage table? A significant upgrade could be made for considerably less leaving mucho dinero for a better cartridge, more albums, etc.
You see, I happen to have both am AR XA, and a Thorens deck here, both were easily eclipsed by my Kenwood KD770D, if not familiar with this table it's quite the shit. Not Kenwood's TOTL table in its day, but that's a good thing here. 99.9% of the ability of their top tables but still under the radar enough that if patient can be had for under 4 Benjamins, and often with a cartridge worth the cost of entry.
