I totally agree with you. I couldn't have said it better. If I find that I'm distracted and can't listen seriously, I'll switch the main system off and turn on my HT system which has a tuner. Strictly background.
Also, since my main system has 50 tubes in it (yes!), I don't like to waste them for no good reason.
