I also have an old house with 2 prong plugs. Ever so slight hum is sometimes present but not worth worrying about. New Marantz items and vintage Sansui aren't affected. A good Monster power strip/conditioner probably doesn't hurt despite using a 3 to 2 prong reducer. Good luck.
