I have yet to see a case where core losses have caused appreciable heating and have often mused that with superconductors (no copper heating) Lenz and Tesla would still be at the top of the power transmission game. Recently with the incredible efficiency of DC-DC switchers Edison and DC have taken the lead with HVDC transmission.
