@ Michael - to clarify, have you installed a better attenuator in your LP-1? I have a spare pair of nice Goldpoint stepped attenuators. I'm a believer in these, the improvement in clarity is significant. Unfortunately, I can't see any way to fit these inside the chassis, without hacking holes in the PCB. I think it would be preferable to build a new unit from scratch rather than cut the PCB. But perhaps I'm missing something. All ears here, in case you've figured this out already.

I'm going to begin slowly, and limit PS work to the diodes and new Elna Silmic electrolytics. Will also increase value of filter caps C18 and C19 from 220uf to 1000uf.

Question - I'm learning about power transformers, but not yet confident to spec an upgrade to the 1.2VA 34V 35mA stock unit. The stock unit is inadequate to supply current to more modern opamps. New opamps consume a total of ~ 50mA (there are 5 ICs), compared with the 25mA total of the stock opamps.

any suggestions on an appropriate upgrade power transformer? For reference, here is a link to the Hammond PS catalog:

Hammond Mfg. - Power Transformer - (160 & 161 Series)

Looking at 160F34 - 4.4VA 34V 125mA

Thank you
