DHT is the way to go if you want triode sound. KT66 and the like do make good triodes but not the best option if you want the very best.

My feeling with power pentodes (and beamers) is that they sound best as....pentodes. They do take careful design and tweaking to get the best out of them but they can sound great when done right.
