Ed,I'm a big fan of the Technics - especially the tape path through the heads. Handles tape VERY nicely.
DO suggest talking to Jeff about the equalization - circuit-wize it's very easy to do, but do need to mount a switch "somewhere". And it's also easy to "wire out" the PB head should you decide to take the "next step".
