The "heart" or main part of the Black Magic upgrade was Alex Crespi's Uptone audio improved version of the Hovland Musicap (which Bobby then had deep cryo treated. Alex got out of the capacitors making business several years ago (Uptone's various power supplies, USB widgets etc have been doing smashing well for him, but that was not the sole reason he stopped making the caps). I bought up ALL the parts he had that I could use to do speaker upgrades, but those ran out last year.

A future project will be to take a older pair of VSM I have here and use it to try to find a good capacitor which can replace (be as good or better) Uptone cap that will fit in the speaker and not cost crazy $$$.

FWIW, there are other updates I can do to older Merlins (revised tweeters for the TSMs, upgraded wire harness, etc) and I have spare woofers and tweeters (and other parts) on hand to repair any old TSM or VSM.

Sorry for rambling on . . . Can't help it when it comes to Merlins :-)
