You are the audio Sherlock- or at least very close; the Vandersteen 2C's, ARC SP10, and Oracle III/SME V/AQ200 were all from Randy the guru of Optimal Enchantment, Santa Monica. Three of us in my office all bought SP10's there on the same day in 1987.

The 2C speaker placement in that (2010) photo is not perfect, but the wide angle lens has compressed the 3'6" distance. I liked that arrangement as it provided a corridor with access to all the LP's and the system connections.

In the new house, the listening position is against the wall and the system will be in the center of the room, which is 14' X 28' although there is a grand piano on the opposite wall behind. I'm thinking of converting the family room to the listening room which is a bit smaller but has a fireplace and at the moment also and even larger (6'8") piano. The problem is that the speakers could be no farther than about 2'6" from the wall.
