What can I tell It's seems your knowledge is limited.
You've mention on your post above that the current Edgar Horns is using an active subwoofer it is. But the execution is seemless it's
a coherent speaker and Dr. Bruce Edgar is the foremost in horn technology he actually sells it. But you don't know how his speakers
evolve the first Edgar Horns that heard are the modular one using a
PA horn tweeter Audax PR-1 those drivers are awful. Next came the
salad bowl with TAD drivers those the good ones. And finally the
latest sound which is a perfection but if you got critical ears you
can hear the sand amps driving the sub. But there's one thing that you should know Dr. Edgar is using JBL drivers. And you should listen
to these speakers that has these implementation so you could learn
Cafrae that uses a sub and Von Schweikert DB-99 not DB-100.
Now I'll give a brief background on the history of the 300B tube
Guess who developed it Western Electric in the 1930's and the application is commercial, industrial, and military application.
They are building amps based on 300B the 91A with all parst that
they made OPT's, caps driver tube 310A, rectifier 274A. If you can a
pair be prepared to pay at least $20,000 and still this ancient
amp would blow away most the amp that are made toady. I heard an
actual working WE system with original WE 212E tubes amp in pristine
museum quality condition 43-A driving 555W the puresst midrange that I ever heard. And if you guys got the passion and dedication for this
hobby you can actually build an SET amp there's nothing exotic about
this technology it's ancient. And comparing a Chinese copycat to the
original one's is you need the have a trained ear which you guys are
lacking. The TJ Mesh was a noble commercial ploy. Mesh plate which is
actually not it's cut steel go and look around for a real mesh plate
tube it's actually a mesh wire globe or ballon tube, mellow, timid and
syrupy sound perfect money making venture for the audiofile market.
I question the way you listen and basically your sources when Steve
Hoffman listened to those amps he put a track that he remastered
and added an echo to it he actually heard it. And if you guys don't
know who Steve is you need to find it.
YOU NEED TO READ AND JUST LISTEN TO A LOT !!!
