I can't help but to post a reply to you. My friend was using the 1.5 m Statement on his Meridian 508.24 and I must say spend the best you could on source! I took my 2m Prelude to try it out and my jaw was dropped, it failed miserably! Everything turned out to be flat and lifeless. When we switched back to Statement, the body, layering and textures all came back!

However, when we tried the 1.5m Statement and 2m Prelude on the ARC LS25MKII preamp, the results were really astonishing! The Prelude beats the Statement. The Statement actually made the performance so restricted, the music did not dance at all. Everything was so by the book as if the band consisted of beginner musicians!

The Prelude actually let the music flows err, musically and livelier than the Statement, yet retaining the textures and body! Now, what we see over here might be too much of a good thing! The Statement was actually over-shielded for pre-amp.

So, it still boils down to system synergy! More bucks might not assure you better music!
