This is why it's so hard to design a wide-range 2-way with high output.

There are three related ways to reduce this distortion, essentially by reducing cone excursion.

The simplest is to use a larger cone. For the same acoustic output, a 15" driver is going to move much less than an 8", so the effect is lessened.

You can restrict the low-end by crossing the driver over to another driver that handles low frequencies. The KEF Uni-Q is an example.

The third way to reduce this effect is to drive up the efficiency via a horn or waveguide. The much higher load on the diver results in reduced excursion.
