There were some very pleasant surprises for me when I got my QB-9:

1. I was surprised at how much better streaming audio from Rhapsody and Wolfgang's Vault sounded.

2. I was surprised at how much better Hulu and Netflix sounded.

3. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed listening to 24 bit 96 and 192KHz tracks

4. I was surprised that I do not feel I need any additional digital inputs on the DAC.

5. I was surprised at how satisfied I am with the purchase.

My previous DAC was a PS Audio DLIII. I tried the USB input on the DAC, the optical, and the USB through a USB-Coax converter. I preferred the optical for the most part. All in All its a great device and I strongly recommend that you audition one. Use whatever computer source you are most comfortable with and have fun. I use a 2010 Mac Mini with Pure Music, Decibel, and Audirvana. Pick the one you like the best, they are all an improvement over itunes. The Rhapsody audio quality improvement for me was a huge benefit. Its certainly not "audiophile" quality by any means, but it does alow you to get a good idea of what an album will sound like before you buy it and is a great place to listen to music that you may not want or need to buy.
