If you use only Mac's the easiest way to connect to other Mac is via Safari browser. New Mac's have built-in vnc server, so after enabling screen sharing on target computer all you need is just type vnc://'your ip address', like vnc://192.168.0.128 (or whatever you have) on your Safari browser. For private home network it works just fine.
