I've followed threads on wi-fi vs. ethernet connection. My firm opinion is that it depends on your gear (digital transport, usb cleaners, DAC, power supply, etc.). The USB HD will be adding some digital noise, and wi-fi radios generate noise. I agree with the advice below, try both ways in your system.
