Ah yes, the 2018 Mac Minis have the SSD chips soldered to the main board. I was thinking 2014 Mac Minis.

In my case since I'm running Roon, it supposedly runs better if it and its database are installed onto SSD. Plus the SSD will boot the OS much faster, not that it matters if you leave the Mini ON 24/7.

I'm liking my DS718+ NAS. When did you get one?

I have Roon on mine along with my music. And although I don't have Roon running on SSD in this case it still performs just fine for my relatively small music library of ~10,000 tracks. I have an external 2TB 2.5" USB drive attached to the DS718+ to automatically backup up the NAS RAID.
