What I would do if I were you would be to;
1. Buy a Wireworld Starlight 8 USB cable
3. Buy an iFi iSilencer
4. Hook them up and see what you get
5. If not happy yet buy any DAC from Musical Fidelity
6. Hook it up and see what you get
7. Check your interconnects from the DAC to the stereo and upgrade them if they are old or cheap to some good ones.
8. If not happy yet buy a new or used Windows laptop or computer with at least 16gb of memory and an Intel i7 or higher with an SSD hard drive.I don't know anything about Macs so I can't address that side. I am running a Windows Gaming Laptop with 16gb and an i7 that is 5 years old with a DacMagic 100 on USB with MusicBee and I think it sounds great but that is just me. YMMV
