See my post above in response to what Ralph said. What was most obvious when I did some trials with different cables back whenever, was that cables with high CI sounded very bad. This is with Atma-sphere amps driving Sound Lab ESLs, which is what I still listen to. In the interim I modified my speaker's crossover network such that impedance of the speakers is now much higher and more suitable to an OTL, which made a huge difference, still with the Goertz ribbon speaker cables, only a 4-foot length per side.
