Mr Futterman actually used triodes in his first two amps. The first one presented in 1954 used the 12B4S which delivered 10 W into 16 Ohms with 8 tubes and 20 W with 14 tubes with less than O.1% harmonic distortion. In 1956 he presented an amp with 10 12B4A that delivered ca 18 W into a load of 16 Ohm
