hey all was in my local electronics shop (jaycar australia) and noticed they had some foster ribbon tweeters on special for 39 australian dollars each. I have always wanted some ribbons and would like to know of any implimentation issues i might have.

my system is a behringer ultra curve (digital eq) hooked to a behringer ultradrive pro digital crossover. I use the ultradrive to biamp a set of tannoy mx2's with some lm1875 (chip amp) battery powered amps.

so at the moment i have an lm1875 chip amp coupled directly to my tweeter i am planning to swap this tweeter for the ribbon unit . i remember reading some time ago that you cannot couple a ribbon directly to an amp, it needs to be coupled with capacitor regardless. Is this true ? if so what kind/value of cap would you recomend ?

the tweeter is a foster CT2023, regular phase type, 8ohm, 6k-40khz freq resp, 92db efficient.

the recomended crossover point is 6khz with a 12db slope. my main question is how low do you think i could drive it with a 48db buttersworth slope from my behringer ? as 6khz is normally a bit high for my tastes :D

best regards - keegan
