What I did was;Take the feet off.
Lay the speaker on my dining room table.
Remove the aluminum pieces from the side slowly & carefully by prying them out starting at the bottom. Once I got a few inches pried out it seemed to pop off.
Using a small flat bladed screw driver and needle nose pliers I removed the staples on the bottom.
I removed the 4 screws from the plate with binding posts and left it hanging loose. When removing the sock slip it over this plate.
I was then able to pull the sock up but I left it attached at the top.
Once I affected the repair, I did everything in reverse to put it back together.
The only thing I would recommend is having a good staple gun for reattaching the sock. I found a standard spring action gun didn't put the staples in all the way.
