I think PAR's post was headed in the right direction. How you mount your ESLs depends on your listening environment and, in my case, whether you listen in the near of far field. I've been listening to my ESLs for decades and found that in my rooms and given my seating position, the original legs sound best. There's no one right answer,though; experiment and see which version of the feet sounds best to you in your room.
I will say that the one right answer for my listening pleasure is Kent's rebuild of my ESLs. I met him at a Capital Audio Fest a few years ago and decided to have him refurbish my speakers. Best audio decision I have ever made, aside from getting Quads in the first place.
