Thanks to all for your help. I should have mentioned in my OP that I'm currently using an Emotiva XPA-2 Gen2 to drive my Magnestands. Obviously this amp provides plenty of power to drive the Magnestands. I guess this comes down to my preference for even order harmonics; hence the desire to use a tube amp. For kicks and grins I'm going to try a tube buffer between my W4S DAC2 and the XPA-2.
