Planar Speaker Asylum: HELPPPP MAGGIES 2.5r or 1.6? by ifoundthebeat

I have a tough decision and I really need help...I am looking for an upgrade of my wonderful magnepan mg12's. heres a brief description of my setup.

the room is 13x12 with 15 foot coffered ceilings. Seat is nearly all the way back-10 feet from center channel. The room has velvet drapes on all four walls with carpet underneath. Berber carpet on floor. I love my maggies but after four years Im ready for an upgrade. I listed my speakers on audiogon and have had many bites with one offer currently being negotiated. The question is what is the best upgrade. There is no Magnepan dealer in my town of Houston anymore so I have no place to hear options. Im thinking 1.6 or 2.5r but im open to suggestions. Budget is no more than $1100 which translates to about 500 over what I can get for my speakers. HELP?
