I think Lady Gaga is the greatest American singer now active. She is also respectful and not, as my late mother-in-law would say, "full of herself."

This latter bit was evidenced by a skit she did on SNL where she looked at what life would be like when she's old, living in an apartment, and forgotten. In the skit she used her real name.

And she needed to carry the show because this is pretty much or exactly Tony Bennett's farewell tour due to Alzheimers and being in his 90s.

I started with an anti-Lady Gaga bias-the meat dress, etc. I figured she was Madonna part two. Then I heard her sing. My jaw literally dropped open.

I wish she would record the American song book. It would be definitive.
