Timbo, there is a nice book on the P39 and P400's support of Allied forces in Australia and over New Guinea. It has a nice map of the X-Mile Aerodromes around Darwin. The ferrying of variousplane types to Australia. The ferrying by the Japanese, of their planes & units to outlying air bases, in the Pacific.Seems that many of the Airacobras were shipped in parts from San Francisco, then reassembled by USAAF & RAAF personnel at Amberley. Then, flown to Darwin.
Photos is book, I've never seen before.
