I bought my son a laptop for school about 18 months ago, A Dell 2 in 1, 15" HD touch screen, I5, 8GB, 256GB SSD and they don't come with ethernet ports anymore or CD/DVD drives for loading software.

I had to find some drivers for my Apple USB DVD player and bought a USB-gigabit ethernet adapter.

It was about $650.

I still use an 10+ year old Compaq pentium, 15" laptop that only works plugged in when I travel and need a browser or Putty.
