I remember listening to a three-way horn system where the tweeter horn's mouth was in the same plane as the midrange horn's mouth, putting the tweeter horn's diaphragm multiple wavelengths closer to the listener at the crossover frequency.

Solo violin sounded like a duet. It sounded like a teeny tiny violin, playing only the high overtones, was accompanying the normal violin. I would have called it "distracting" rather that "fatiguing".

Must admit I didn't look at the liner notes... maybe it really was a duet.
