I just came across this review. They sound intriguing. I'm currently using Audio Note AN-Es. They do a good job in my apartment and I find they/the room comes alive at 83dB to 85dB at the listening position (89dB at 1m). One of my concerns with the Athenaeum is that it may need to be played louder than this to really come alive. -I'm afraid my neighbours won't tolderate anything above 85dB. Another concern is that my 2 watt stereo amp won't be able to drive the 15" woofers.
