I am looking to replace my dated digital player/DAC with a new one box player. I really do not think I will need or use video capability with the player. I am really looking at 2 channel playback and interested in adding SACD capability. My current options are the OPPO BDP-93 player that lists for $499 direct from OPPO, the Onkyo C-S5VL player that lists for $349 on Amazon, or a NIB Marantz SA8003 that I can buy locally for $550 plus tax.
I have tried to read recent reviews, and am sort of leaning toward teh Marantz due to ratings and the fact that I can buy it locally (Colubus, OH area). Looking for any input from you on your expereince and recommendations. I would prefer a unit that has a warmer, less clinical tendancy and will be reliable.
I am interested in any comparison between the units and also how the SA-8003 compares to teh current SA-8004 model.
Thanks for your time. I am obviously looking to spend less than $1k.

- Correct - That's why I said "FWIW", but I didn't realize the SA models did not have fans - Thanks! [nt] - Chris from Lafayette 08:31:20 02/21/12 ( 0)
