That is odd! I would expect the DC resistance of both ear-speakers to be within 1% of each other or closer. I suspect they've been damaged in some way. However, for the price, I guess you can't really complain too much, but if they were brand new I would return them under warranty.
You know, I've never thought to measure the DC resistance of any of my headphones. I think I'll do it right now before finishing this post.
My 28-year old Grado HP-1 headphones measure 41.0-ohms and 41.1-ohms.
My 16-year old Grado RS-2 headphones measure 32.0-ohms and 32.2-ohms.
My cheap little earbuds that I bought 6-months ago for 8 or 9 dollars measure 16.3-ohms in both earbuds.
My new $260 FiiO FH5 earbud headphones measure 12.9-ohms equally in both earbuds.
Well, I've got a couple of more earbud headphones but I'm tired of measuring. Based on my results, I'd say your headphones have been damaged. They might have been over-driven and the voice coils overheated. That's just a guess, but it's apparent something is wrong with them. That's why I always buy brand new components.
Good luck,
John Elison
