I have a double album of the Dead on vinyl bought new back in the 70's (still mint) with the original Pig Pen on bass (a great one, RIP). At least the recording and performance was exceptional. I really mean it, it sounds sublime so go figure.
I think their idea was to use a lot of distributed power into a massive bank of speakers to lower the distortions. What a WALL!
