I got a class D amp for my subs that has Speakons. It's a decent plug and very handy in Pro Sound applications.

Speakons have four connections and this allows the manufacturer to put both channels into a single Speakon.

Being that I'm using them for two subs and using them in stereo as the iNuke 6000DSP isn't bridgable a YouTube video gave me a heads up. See link

The guy tests the NU6000 non DSP connected to an amp Dyno. It gives a tad over 80% of the rated power @8 ohms but just over 68% of the rated power @4.

It's clear to me for heat, lower AC consumption and other reasons such as it delivers more power than I need at 8 ohms I'm going to run it higher impedance.

My subs are DVC 5.6 ohm DCR so wired in series they'll show 11.2 ohms DCR. The actual impedance will be lower but I have no way to measure that.

Class D is much more dependent on AC delivery than A/B. I wanted to install a 20 amp IEC for it over 3X surface area, double the depth and tight fit.

Anyone that has compared the fit of a 15A IEC vs a 20 knows the night and day difference and superior fit. It's not about the 5A higher rating. I've said before and will always preach good gear and high current consumption gear should only use a 20A IEC.

So Speak off? I wanted to rewire the amp Speakon Jack's such that all four conductors were for one channel but can't due to them being mounted on a little board and not hard wired.

So I decided to remove them. It looks like 14 gauge wire from the amp board output to the Speakons and I will hardwire the subs to that wire. I also rerouted some wiring. Three wires supplying power from the PS board to the amp board were laying on and touching the two output wires from the amp board for the R channel.

Removing the Speakons will eliminate three of the four connections points and make for superior power transfer. Every little bit helps.
