Did you bother to read what you found?It's from 1999/2000. The only reference in it to medals.bizrate, is to say that bizrate uses cookies. If you had actually check on what medals.bizrate was, you would discover that what was "downloaded" was a single pixel transparent gif, used by Bizrate to know how often there bizrate services are being used by its customers.
Security is an important fact of life these days, but security is not helped by chicken little's running around telling us the sky is falling.
Of course thats not to say the something is not occuring at the mentioned web sites, but your pointing to a 5 1/2 year old article, has little, of no barring on what is being done by these sites today.
