I totally agree with David's assessment of the GPA Monaco component stand. I also very seriously considered building my own replacement rack with maple shelves, sorbothane & the GPA apex feet. After some serious thought, brought about after reading reviews of the GPA & HRS rack systems on the 6 MOONS web site, I figured I'd just be fooling myself in regards to my knowledge of such a "technical" task.
I e-mailed Alvin (GPA)on several occassions with questions and was always promptly and profesionally answered. I bit the bullet, as David says...the component rack is not inexpensive. I also ordered a short wheelbase model with the apex feet, 3/4" shelves and 1 formula shelf for the CD player. I filled the stands with silica sand, and it's been a happy marriage ever since. When I can afford it I'll purchase the GPA amp stand also.
