It's because it is a T761... I am on my third one in two years and it is sitting on the floor waiting to be returned for service with a similar problem.I bought mine when the model was first introduced. It sounds very good when it works...
The first one started losing channels whenever using a digital input.
The replacement had a fan that ran full speed continuously, even when simply turned on. It was loud enough to be heard over music, and obvious whenever you were in the room.
This third one lasted less than a year. It lost the left main channel and then the left surround channel.
If you read the reviews on Audioreview you will see that we are not alone. Common, common, common...
I actually bought a $200 Sony to fill the void. I have not begun to look into getting number three repaired, I am expecting that it is going to cost me this time (expired warranty?). I am thoroughly disgusted with it's build quality.
