Though your Jolida tray is acting up I would look at a separate newer model dac and use your Jolida as a transport for the time being. Baby steps, though actually a pretty big one as I expect you will hear a huge difference from the dac upgrade in itself.

Then at some point get a new transport or digital player. Either of which may not have quite the same impact but you'll need something if your current transport is slowly expiring.

Unfortunately I cannot comment if you'll like what you hear vs the Jolida in regards to personal taste, but on paper the technical advancements have come far since the early 2000's. And good bang for your buck regarding your budget.

You might want to explore Gustard (SS) or Doge (Tube) Dacs. Cambridge (tray) or Audiolab (slot) transports. (I have an Audiolab. Love it.) Digital music players I am not familiar with though many enjoy the convenience. Soundwise debates on transports vs players (and all audio components) will of course continue until the end of time. But now may be a good time for you to look at separates vs an all-in-one CD player.
