I swapped the Chord in for the MSB and I and a friend did an A-B.

Right from the get go the Chord was more detailed and instruments had a better sense of a 3D presence. Guitar had a better attack. We listened and compared quite a few SRV DSD recordings. The Chord sucked you into the performance, and little details were fleshed out and not confusing the picture being rendered.

The MSB was a little better fleshed out in the bass and sounded dryer over all in comparison.

I think with the M-Scaler the Chord gives the more expensive MSB setup a good run for its money. Im sure the MSB DACs that are higher up the chain are another matter altogether.

It would be very interesting to do a DAC to DAC test with the DAVE/MScaler vs the top tier MSB products.

In some ways they are direct competitors.
