For my third home system which I use in my office, workshop, I will be putting a modest system together. I'll be using what I have left over ... some homemade speakers built from a kit (pretty good ported two way), an Adcom 5300 amp, and to save money because I only need the ability to play CD's, I'd like a CDP with a volume control. I used to have a high end Sony player that had two outputs - one straight line level and the other that ran through a simple pot. Whenever I was working on the preamp or switching preamps I would use the Sony's volume control directly to the amp. Is there still such an animal as a modern player with this feature?
