My opinion is it's the ever increasing amount of greedy vendors and manufactures going for that "wall street money" ruining it.

With fewer and fewer brick & mortars to demo equipment people with no perception of whats really possible with a home system are left deciding on spending usually huge sums of money based on what is said online. Which increasingly can't be trusted because of all the underhanded sponsorship of people posting that isn't made public in forums. I don't blame people for not wanting to even dabble.

Being relatively new to the higher end equipment but having a computer/electronics background it boggles my mind what this industry gets away with in terms of marketing and margins, it's quite unique.

Im guessing when you guys started out what actually mattered to the majority (the vendors & manufactures also) was the music!
